Murmuration refers to the phenomenon that results when a large flock (literally hundreds) of birds fly in swooping, intricately coordinated patterns through the sky.
Celebrating the strength, beauty and joy of dancing together, we are a Canadian (Ottawa-based) dance collective, sharing a passion for fusion bellydance, specifically the Fat Chance Belly Dance (FCBD) style (previously known as ATS). The "flock of birds" concept is central to FCBD which focuses on coordinated dance movements and group formations, hence our name, "Murmuration". Murmuration Dance (Ottawa) is a member of Dance Ontario.
We honour the peoples and land of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation on whose territory this city has been built. We honour all First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and their valuable past and present contributions to nurture and continue to nurture this land. We give thanks for the opportunity to study, practice and share our dance craft on this land.
