So excited to be part of the Eastern Ontario Women's Art Festival. Come and dance with us in Brockville on July 27, 2024!
Coming in the Spring 2024… Bellydance with Single Sword!
A 6-week introductory session teaching the fundamentals of dancing with a Scimitar (balanced sword). This is a skills-based series for those with previous bellydance experience who are:
· new to sword work
· a bit rusty with their sword skills
· looking for new ideas to freshen up their solo or group performances.
The classes are progressive and build successively on each other, so the session is not suitable for drop-ins.
Classes are 90 minutes and will cover:
· sword care and safety
· entrance and exit moves
· technical moves and combinations
· musicality in sword dance.
The sword dance moves are based on the dialects used in various fusion bellydance dialects, including tribal fusion and folkloric bellydance.
Participants will experiment with a wide range of musical genres, all suitable for creative sword dance, both choreographed and improvisational.
Participants must provide their own bellydance sword (preferably without a finger or knuckle guard) and finger cymbals. Swords must be in a protective scabbard (sheath) or case that fully conceals its shape when transporting it. Bring a non-slip headband/scarf that you can tie around your head. Wear comfortable clothing that allows overhead arm movements.

"Flock of Birds" dance shoot
Every year, we pull out all stops and dress up in our performance dance gear, to strut our stuff. We select a colourful bird species, and reflect those colors in what we wear. Always a lot of fun!
